The 16th National Youth Management Science and System Science Conference and Management Journal Development Forum was successfully held in Xuzhou from June 17th to June 18th, 2023. Our graduate student, Guo Changhai from the class of 2022, was invited to attend the conference and delivered a relevant academic presentation at a sub-forum. In the sub-forum titled "Green and Low-Carbon Innovation Development" held in the afternoon of June 17th, Guo Changhai presented an academic paper entitled "Strategy for Selecting Battery Recycling Models Considering Hierarchical Utilization." This paper was completed under the guidance of Professor Zhang Wenfen, along with fellow students Wei Liu and Xie You.

The paper investigates the characteristics of cascaded utilization of retired power batteries and explores the selection problem of closed-loop supply chain recycling modes dominated by battery manufacturers. Based on Stackelberg game theory, it constructs recycling modes dominated by battery manufacturers and those dominated by third-party recyclers, respectively. The study analyzes the impact of customer preference for different recyclers' return willingness and the cost of cascaded utilization technology on the profitability and recycling rate of each mode.

The presentation content attracted the attention of several experts and professors in the audience. Guo Changhao engaged in discussions and exchanges with students and faculty members from renowned domestic universities such as Xi'an Jiaotong University, Central University of Finance and Economics, and China University of Mining and Technology. They listened to insights and guidance from multiple experts in the field of new energy and power battery recycling, providing new perspectives for future research.

Through this conference, our graduate students had in-depth discussions and exchanges with scholars nationwide who are engaged in management science and systems engineering. It enriched their academic experience and broadened their research perspectives. The student expressed their commitment to cherishing the learning opportunities during their graduate studies and striving to achieve more meaningful research outcomes.

This conference was organized by the Youth Working Committee of the Chinese Society of Systems Engineering, the Management Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, co-sponsored by the Youth Working Committees of the China Academy of Management Modernization and the Chinese Association for Optimization of Law-based System Planning and Economic Mathematics, and hosted by Xuzhou Institute of Technology. Several expert scholars, including Wang Shouyang, a specially appointed researcher at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, academician of the International Academy of Systems and Control Sciences, and academician of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World; Ling Wen, chairman of the Shandong Provincial Association for Science and Technology and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Xi Youmin, executive president of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University; Feng Gengzhong, Party Secretary and Vice President of the Chinese Society of Systems Engineering; and Zhang Jinlong, professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and president of the Journal of Management, attended the conference and delivered reports. The conference's theme was "Systems Engineering and Management Innovation: New Opportunities for a Century of Transformation." It mainly discussed the theoretical frontiers and social hot issues of management science and systems science in the current era of intelligence. The conference exchanged the latest research results through keynote reports and sub-forum presentations, integrated outstanding academic resources, and solved practical problems.
